Roman Polanski arrested in Switzerland

Roman Polanski was allegedly arrested this weekend in Switzerland.


According to reports, 76-year-old direct was taken into custody in Switzerland on a 1978 US warrant, which was issued after Polanski pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl.


Polanski – director of such films as Chinatown and Rosemary’s Baby – fled to France in 1978 and has since been unable to travel to the US due to the issued warrant for his arrest.


Upon arriving in Switzerland, where Polanski was to receive a lifetime achievement award at the Zurich Film Festival today, he was held and brought immediately into custody.
