Rodriguez Plans to Shoot SIN CITY 2 This Year

Filmmaker also announces animation banner.

Talking to Risky Biz at the SXSW Film festival this week, Robert Rodriguez revealed that he is aiming to shoot the long delayed ‘Sin City’ sequel in the summer. The plan is for Rodriguez to move onto ‘Sin City 2’ after he wraps on ‘Machete Kills,’ which begins filming next month.

While the multitalented filmmaker remained tight lipped on casting, he did indicate that the cast will be made up of the “same caliber and eclecticism” as the first film. The plot is rumoured to be using ‘A Dame to Kill For’ as the basis for the sequel.

Rodriguez also announced Quickdraw Animation, his newly formed animation company that will be its own entity with its own financing and infrastructure devoted to making CG-animated feature films.

The first projects for the newly formed banner will be ‘Heavy Metal’ and an untitled family film, both of which have reportedly finished scripts and ready to move into storyboarding.
