Robert Schwentke May Have THE FINEST HOURS

Filmmaker in talks for fact based drama.

‘Red’ director Robert Schwentke has entered into negotiations with Disney to take the helm of the studio’s coast guard drama ‘The Finest Hours,’ reports THR.

Based on the bestselling non-fiction book by Casey Sherman and Michael Tougias, the plot revolves around a daring 1952 Coast Guard mission to rescue the crews of two oil tankers that collided off the New England coast.

The script for the film adapted by James Tamasy and Eric Johnson (‘The Fighter’).

Schwentke previously worked with the studio on the 2005 Jodie Foster thriller ‘Flightplan.’ The director’s next, the supernatural action comedy ‘R.I.P.D’ starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, is opens in Irish cinemas August 2013.
