Helmer lines up his next gig.
Nu Image/Millennium have hired Rob Cohen (‘Alex Cross,’ ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor,’ ‘The Fast and the Furious’) to take the director’s chair for the action adventure feature ‘Crash Bandits,’ according to THR.
Scripted by Michael Stokes, the plot centres on the rivalry between “two treasure hunters who specialize in salvaging old plane wrecks. When they get a beat on the ultimate prize, they find themselves in a race against each other in the Amazon jungle.”
‘Crash Bandits’ will be produced by Johnny Martin, David Raines, Kevin King and Mark Canton with Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, John Thompson and Boaz Davidson executive producing.
The project originally had John McTiernan (‘The Thomas Crown Affair,’ ‘The 13th Warrior,’ ‘Die Hard’) on board to direct.
