Ridley Scott

Crime thriller eyes A-list couples.

With production scheduled to kick off in June, Ridley Scott is moving fast to fill out the cast of his upcoming feature ‘The Counselor,’ and according to reports the ‘Prometheus’ director has both Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt lined up for supporting roles.

The crime thriller, penned by Cormac McCarthy, is set along the Mexican border and stars Michael Fassbender as a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe in to the cocaine trade without getting sucked down. He teams up with a rich acquaintance (Bardem) for a new business that also brings in a shady type (Pitt). Things don’t go as planned.

Penelope Cruz and Angelina Jolie are also said to be linked to the project, with Cruz being eyed for the role of Fassbender’s love interest, while Jolie is believed to be circling a smaller part due to her tight schedule with the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ re-imagining ‘Maleficent,’ also set to shoot in June.
