Deadline is hearing that Universal execs are in talks with director Tim Story and his ‘Ride Along’ stars Ice Cube and Kevin Hart to reprise their roles for a sequel to the buddy comedy.
The first film, which hits this side of the pond on February 28th, follows Ben Barber (Hart), a quick-witted, videogame junkie, security guard who joins his fiance’s hard-boiled, hot-tempered detective brother (Cube) on a 24-hour patrol of Atlanta in order to prove his worth. Tika Sumpter (‘Salt,’ ‘Sparkle’) co-stars.
Original scribes Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi will return to pen the sequel, with Will Packer of Rainforest Films and Cube’s Cube Vision producing.
