Remake of THE LAST OF SHEILA in Development

Hollywood planning remake of cult murder mystery.

THR has learned that New Line Cinema is planning a remake of the underrated murder mystery flick ‘The Last Of Shelia.’

Directed by Herbert Ross and penned by actor Anthony Perkins and lyricist/songwriter Stephen Sondheim, the 1973 original was set aboard a yacht in the Mediterranean. The boat’s owner, a Hollywood producer whose wife was recently killed in a hit-and-run car accident, invites a group of his friends to join him a year after his wife is killed in a hit-and-run accident. The friends some become entangled in a mysterious scavenger hunt that quickly turns into a deadly cat-and-mouse exercise as secrets are revealed.

Beau Flynn (‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,’ ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth,’ ‘Choke’) is attached to produce.
