Remake of Hitchcock’s REBECCA in Development

Hitchcock classic set for remake.

DreamWorks and Working Title Films are teaming up for a remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1940 mystery thriller ‘Rebecca,’ reports Variety.

Screenwriter Steven Knight (‘Eastern Promises,’ ‘Amazing Grace,’ ‘Dirty Pretty Things’) is attached to write the screenplay. The scribe is said to be returning to the original book by Daphne DuMaurier for his adaptation.

The original, starring Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier, follows a naive young woman who marries a rich widower and settles in his gigantic mansion, only to find that the memory of the first wife maintains a grip on her husband and the servants.
