Director passes on the action thriller.
Early last month it was revealed that ‘Drive’ helmer Nicolas Winding Refn was in talks to direct a big screen outing of ‘The Equalizer’ for Sony Pictures. Well Collider has word that the deal has fallen apart at the last minute, albeit for unknown reasons.
A cinematic reboot of the classic TV show that starred Edward Woodward, the film has Denzel Washington attached to play Robert McCall, a former covert operations agent who tries to atone for his past sins by offering his services as a trouble shooter, a protector, and an investigator to those who have been wronged.
The studio will now try to lock down a new director with the aim of getting the action thriller into production by the summer.
