Reese Witherspoon Returning for LEGALLY BLONDE 3

Reese Witherspoon (‘A Wrinkle in Time,’ ‘Big Little Lies’) is set to reprise her role as sorority queen-turned-successful lawyer Elle Woods  for a third outing of ‘Legally Blonde,’ with release pencilled in for February 2020. Witherspoon took to Instagram to confirm the news, recreating Elle’s video application to Harvard Law School.

Directed by Robert Luketic, the 2001 original followed a fashionable sorority queen who attempts to win back her ex-boyfriend by getting a law degree. Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis, Victor Garber, and Jennifer Coolidge co-starred. Witherspoon reprised the role for the 2003 sequel, ‘Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde.’

In addition to starring, Witherspoon would also produce through her Hello Sunshine production company. Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah, who adapted Amanda Brown’s novel for the original film, are in talks for scripting duty. Original producer Marc Platt and his Platt Productions president Adam Siegel will also produce.

LEGALLY BLONDE 3 hits Irish cinemas February 2020.
