Ensemble film fills out cast.
Reese Witherspoon (‘Mud’), Owen Wilson (‘Midnight In Paris’), Jena Malone (‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’) and Martin Short (‘Frankenweenie’) have become the latest additions to the cast of ‘Inherent Vice,’ Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming adaptation of the Thomas Pynchon novel of the same name.
They join the previously cast Joaquin Phoenix and Benicio Del Toro for the part noir, part psychedelic romp. Taking place in Los Angeles at the turn of the 1970s, as drug-fueled detective Larry “Doc” Sportello (Phoenix) uncovers a plot to kidnap a billionaire land developer.
TheWrap hears that Malone will play a former drug addict who asks the pot-smoking Sportello for help, but has no details regarding the roles that Witherspoon, Wilson or Short will be taking.
