Popular comedienne/actress Rebel Wilson (‘Pitch Perfect,’ ‘Pain & Gain,’ ‘Super Fun Night’) has been tapped to take the lead the remake of the 1980 comedy ‘Private Benjamin,’ according to the folks over at TheWrap.
Goldie Hawn and the late Eileen Brennan, the original centres on a sheltered young high society woman who joins the army on a whim and finds herself in a more difficult situation than she ever expected. The film, directed by Howard Zieff, spawned a short-lived TV series.
The remake will follow a redneck (Wilson) and a rich city girl who enlists in the Marines to escape their present situations.
Mark Gordon (‘2012,’ ‘Source Code,’ ‘Saving Private Ryan’) is on board to produce. The project is out to directors.
