Rebecca Hall May Take Role in IRON MAN 3

Chastain out, Hall in?

Last month it was reported that Jessica Chastain (‘The Help,’ ‘The Tree of Life’) was set to take a pivotal role in Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures’ ‘Iron Man 3.’ Well it appears that the news was premature as the actress has taken to her Facebook account to announce that she won’t be taking the role due to scheduling conflicts.

Variety now reports that Rebecca Hall, an actress of equal talent, is in talks for the role. While it has yet to be confirmed, the role if believed to be that of Dr. Maya Hansen, a scientist and old flame of Tony Stark.

In Warren Ellis’ six-issue story arc ‘Iron Man: Extremis,’ Maya is the co-creator of the Extremis technology, a military nanotechnology serum that came about after an attempt to recreate the Super-Soldier Serum.

Hall (‘Lay the Favourite,’ ‘The Awakening,’ ‘The Town’) would be joining Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle, all of whom are reprising their respective roles, and newcomers Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce (‘Lock Out’). ‘Iron Man 3’ will be directed by Shane Black, who helms from a screenplay he co-wrote with Drew Pearce.
