REAL STEEL Sequel Already Being Developed

The yet to be released movie already has a sequel in the works.

Not that it should comes as a total shock but Deadline reports that Shawn Levy’s yet to be released ‘Real Steel’ starring Hugh Jackman already has a sequel in the works.

While studios usually wait to see how much money a movie makes before developing a sequel, Dreamworks has decided to move forward after the movie got a strong response to internal screenings and its CinemaCon presentation of footage in Las Vegas. The sequel to the robot boxing movie drama will be penned by John Gatins (‘Dreamer,’ ‘Coach Carter’), who scripted the first film.

The Rocky-meets-Transformers tale stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up prize fighter whose pugilistic skills are rendered obsolete when human boxers are replaced by robots. Now, nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

Development on the sequel’s just getting under way, and deals will be offered to Jackman and Levy to return.
