The Rats of NIMH Movie Hires A Director

Visual effects supervisor James Madigan is set to make his directorial debut with ‘The Rats Of NIMH,’ a hybrid live-action/animation outing of author Robert C. O’Brien’s children’s classic, ‘Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH.’

O’Brien’s Newbery Medal-winning series revolves around a group of rescued laboratory rats that help a field mouse to save her home from destruction by a farmer’s plow.

Animation veteran Don Bluth adapted the book for the big screen with the 1982 motion picture ‘The Secret of NIMH.’ The movie, featuring the voices of Elizabeth Hartman, Dom DeLuise, and Wil Wheaton, received widespread critical acclaim and is widely considered Bluth’s best work.

Daniel Bobker and Ehren Kruger are producing with Michael Berg providing the script.
