Keir Gilchrist and Nick Offerman circling roles.
‘Project X’ star Thomas Mann is in final negotiations to take one of the two leads in ‘King Dork,’ Matt Piedmont’s ‘King Dork,’ reports Variety.
An adaptation of Frank Portman’s 2006 novel, the story follows best friends Tom (Mann) and Sam, two outsiders who bond over their shared love of classic rock and roll, which helps them cope with the agony of getting through high school in 1987.
Keir Gilchrist, Mann’s co-star in ‘It’s Kind of a Funny Story,’ is being eyed for the role of Sam, while ‘Park and Recreation’ star Nick Offerman is circling the role of Tom’s stepdad.
Filming on the project is scheduled to kick off in June with a screenplay by D.V. DeVincentis (‘High Fidelity,’ ‘Grosse Point Blank’).
