Mmm. What a weird movie this is. It has a feel-good attitude while telling the story of a very unlikeable character. The first half doesn't feel like a comedy. The second half is much better and funnier. Damon tries but feels too self-absorved and his wife is such a silly person, played disgracefully by Melanie Lynskey. I wouldn't recommend it.
Very dark and funny, a little bit too mean with the main character but it doesn't do anything bad to what the filmmakers are trying to say. The cast did a wonderful job, especially Michael Stuhlbarg who carries the movie from start to finish. A must see, but not for everyone.
Insipid movie about a legend of aviation. Swank, Gere and McGregor are not good enough to make you feel involved with their story, and the screenplay lacks focus. The film is also missing a smart direction; it can be boring and rather repetitive with the original footage used to illustrate Amelia's status. Outstanding cinematography though. Overall, don't see it.
What a piece of rubbish. This movie will go down in history as one of the most stupid commercial films ever made. I think John Cusack's career will be damaged by it. People were laughing at the "crucial" scenes because of the stupidity. Not even the visual effects could save it. Also, it took Obama to win the US Presidency to feature a black president in a Hollywood blockbuster. Thank god I did not pay for it. Don't waste your money and time. Roland Emmerich made this movie just for the money. It's not even funny when they try. It's funny when they are dying or in trouble because the actors looked like idiots saying those lines and running from the disaster. Don't bother!
Disgusting! Bad acting, bad writing, bad directing. Don't waste your money and time!
Rubbish. I don't understand why George Clooney is still working. That fake smile and uninspiring voice didn't do anything good to this pointless, absurd and stupid story about New Age in the American Army. Ewan McGregor played the usual McGregor character: a naive grown-up that acts like a child. Don't watch this movie.
Beautiful and tragic story of John Keats. I enjoyed it a lot, even though the film felt boring during the first half. Cornish gave a flawed but wonderful performance as Keats' inspiration. I loved the images in this film; they were stunning and sad. Jane Campion is a gifted director indeed. But if you don't like slow-paced costume dramas, don't watch it. Half of the cinema left within an hour.
So-so story with cartoonish characters that never manage to make this film work. No doubts that the director is talented, but the film's plot is so uninteresting that after one hour you start wondering why was this film ever made. Seriously. Maybe the screenwriter never thought his story was predictable. Reviewers are praising Mulligan for her performance; I don't think it was that good. Rosamund Pike made a fantastic job playing the silly blonde although her character was a complete cliché. Emma Thompson made a funny cameo and Alfred Molina was very funny as well.
What a cute, funny and quirky little film this is. I absolutely loved it from start to finish. The animation was really impressive and the cast made a wonderful job, especially Meryl Streep and George Clooney. Don't miss it!
A total mess. I saw it because I like Heath Ledger and thought the movie was going to be good. Well, I was mistaken. It's such a boring film.
Visually stunning but lacks a clear direction. The first half has almost no plot. Second half was better but didn't save the whole movie. Very predictable ending though.
This is the kind of thing that destroyed Michael Jackson's life.
