Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

A very good film but not a great one. Oldman & Hardy are the stand out performers. My general problems with the film were that the ending was a bit too round & it was easy enough to figure out who the spy was. Worth a watch though.

A superb film. There is very little about this movie that I don't like. Excellent performances all round & the intensity Gosling brings to it is amazing. Some scenes are fairly iconic & the soundtrack is brilliant. Overall it's one of the best I've seen this year.

The Three Musketeers

I was initially sceptical of a new Three Musketeers film but this was enjoyable. The Musketeers themselves work well together and Waltz & Mikkelson provide very solid bad guys. Some of the scenes are thoroughly ridiculous but that's the fun of it. Some of the language & innuendo isn't really for kids but in the main they'll enjoy the show.

A solid enough film. It starts off a little slowly & takes a little while to get used to the jumping back & forth but then the film settles down & it plays out well. Vanessa Redgrave is particularly very good as is Rhys Ifans & David Thewlis. The plotline is deliberately made out to be very Shakespearian despite the film being not too kind to the man himself. Worth a watch.

A really good & clever film. Far better than I expected. The effects for Caesar are amazingly real & humanlike.

A very enjoyable film that shouldn't be taken too seriously. The trolls are well done especially the last troll. The trollhunter himself is one of the best characters created in a long time. Well worth a watch.

A terrible film. It's not even funny. Somewhere along the line English society has lost the concept of speaking English.

A brilliant film. I was worried I wouldn't feel involved with the characters but they do a great of distinguishing them & making you feel interested in them. The slow build up to the battle is handled well. The battle itself is magnificent. It was exciting & I never felt bored during the end battle. The ending is fitting up until the last couple of minutes and it felt as though the ending was changed by the producers. I must also mention the bad lord in it was portrayed as really remorseless. No sense of good or evil. He was impressive as was the whole film.

Not a great film but is ok in parts. It's far too long & the action scenes are not overly exciting. Depp is a bit tedious & is only funny towards the end. Cruz is extremely annoying. McShane is ok as Blackbeard but a little under used. The 3d aspect is pointless. It's better than 2 & 3 but that wouldn't be hard.

An hilarious film. Gloriously violent & completely ott. Every moment is absolutely ridiculous. It is a laugh a minute & Rutger Hauer is a legend. Brilliant performance from him. A great watch & instantly one of my favourite films.

A very good film with an excellent performance from Portman. Her transformation into the black swan is amazing & truly believable. The plotline is strong & the schizo element is handled really well. A film well worth a watch.

This is a very poor film but that makes it funny at times which is how it got to two stars. I figured out the plotline early on & was hoping it wouldn't turn out the way I expected it to. Sure enough it did & it was ridiculous. Neeson barks his way through the film.
