Fantastic film from start to finish and very clever indeed. Foxx and Butler are on top form in this action packed film that leaves you hooked until the end. Unfortunately, without spoiling, the end didn't quite live up to the rest of the movie and lacked thought, something with which the film seemed to be built upon until the close. Still a great film and well worth going to see though!

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Ok, I'll start with the 5 word review: "A bad episode of power rangers" Cool, now with that out of the way, where do we begin? The film is so bad it's just bad. The lead villan looked at one point to resemble the love child of DR Evil and Darth vader. At another point the film had a fight scene that was completely robbed from Star Wars Ep I (where qui-gon and obi wan fight Darth Maul) and when you look at the fact that 'Sanke Eyes' was played by Ray Park you can see where that came from! The acting was so bad it wasn't even funny and the plot lines were stolen straight out of Hollywood Blockbusters for Dummies. The CGI was laughable in some parts! To be fair it wasn't all bad. One more thing, wasn't GI joe an action figure, a character, and now for some reason GI Joe is a whole unit of people! When did that happen? Funnily enough when did that happen is a question asked many times throughout the film. Especially in the final scenes which looked a little rushed. Even if this film could get 0 stars, it would still get 1 star because it does a better job than some films, however, what let this down most of all was the casting, the leading characters were so weak and the acting was so bad it brought down the film completely. Had the casting been a bit better then maybe, just maybe, this would be a pretty decent movie PS Anyone else see Brendan Fraiser in there? Maybe he realised the film was bad and quit half way through? Or maybe he's still chasing The Mummy? Who knows. I spent the movie thinking about where he was, because that was more interesting to think about than the movie Big thank you to movies.ie for the tickets :)

Excellent excellent film from the legend that is eastwood. A very simple plotline yet mixing and toying with complex emotions. Every so often a we have a hunger for a movie, Gran Torino spoils us and more with what will undoubtably be a film talked about for many years alongside the likes of 'Dirty Harry'. Simply a must see movie!

Star Trek (2009)

This film gets 5 stars, simply because Quinto and Pine's performances are just out of this world! It hard to wonder how JJ Abrams has so much time, with Lost, Cloverfield and now Star Trek all within a short time. I couldn''t help feeling a little let down with Cloverfield, however his take on star trek had me hooked for all of the 127 mins. Zach Quinto is an amazingly talented actor and was perfectly cast as a young Spock, and a perfect compliment to Leonard Nimoy as an older spock. Chris pine is also great as James T Kirk and altough his character is a complete polar opposite to spock, they gel amazingly well together. Simon Pegg's role altough great is a little to short and one can't help feel that, with a man with such sheer talent sugh as pegg, his talent should have been utilised a lot more. Still, without spoiling, pegg still has one of the best quotes of the film! Trekkies and non-trekkies alike will absolutely LOVE this film and I really hope that Abrams adaptation of the franchise will be the first of many.

A good movie but can be somewhat of an acquired taste! It certainly has a really good, dark and fearful atmosphere to it and it can leave you with the chills afterward, however there are slightly more than a few bizarre moments. Definitely a film that leaves you thinking afterwards.

The boat that rocked.... ROCKED! An amazing feelgood movie with an equally amazing soundtrack to boot. Great performance from Philip Seymour Hoffman and a very good performance from Nick Frost too! The boat that rocked is an extremely well cast film with great on screen chemistry between the characters. Very solid stuff. Hard to find a fault with this movie. It's going to be a hit

Bolt 3-D is a film that is bound to please young and old, and though it is a great movie, a lot of that is down to the 3-D animation, which is stunning to say the least. The storyline is OK, but could have been that little bit better, but to be honest, from a film such as this, it never really was about the storyline. Its simply about the animation and it was in my opinion amazing. Rhino the hamster is just classic and completely stole the show! Great stuff

Watchmen

The watchmen is a very different kind of superhero movie. At various parts you can see why this earned its' 18's certificate. It is nice to see a superhero movie as dark as this, however for me the film seems to be lacking an overall story. A lot of the main story seems to be centered around how the characters met, and how their lives crossed paths and although this character exploration is welcome, this seems to add length to the film an make it drag that little bit longer. That said, all in all there are some very good scenes (mainly the prison scene ;), and it is a very welcome departure from overdone cliches of other superhero movies. So overall the watchmen did have some great potential and even though it didn't deliver on all of it, it is still definitely a film worth watching (no pun intended)

A film that could have been so much stronger. Truth be told, the whole storyline is synopsized in the trailer. The film pretty much fills in some holes inbetween to make the story drag for 2 hours. As a lover of the game I will return to the game and enjoy it more, as that is the way max payne is meant to be. This film just lacks effort. Fans of the game should avoid. Remember max payne from the games and do not ruin a classic game with this poor attempt at a movie. I feel a sequel coming on already :(

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

A great film and a great indie Soundtrack. However this film feels like it has just slipped past my generation marginally. It would most definitely appeal to 18-24 year olds but I feel personally that being just past that age bracket, the film doesn't quite relate as much. It still has appeal and it is an amazing film brilliantly cast and set against a New York backdrop but the film just lacks a little push needed to set this film apart from similar films in its' genre. That said though it is a good film and with a very good cast of promising young talent this is a film that will win over the audience and hopefully remain infinite on their playlist for a long time to come. Nick and Norah is a highly recommended film. On the plus side, if this is the standard of acting from Dennings and Cera, 2 actors who will only go upwards from here, then we're in for a treat in the future as their careers look very promising indeed

Che - Part One

Brilliant film that captures the life of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara. Benicio del Toro is simply amazing as his portrayal of the leading character from which the film borrows it's name. It is a very long film, or rather a long feeling film so be prepared as it can get quite heavy, however this is necessary from the film and it most certainly is not a bad thing. There's still more to be told as Che part two will be gracing our screens soon. If Che part one set the standard for the rest of the story, you can bet it's gonna be one amazing complete story of Che, his life and how he became a worldwide symbol of the Revolution. NOT TO BE MISSED!
