Hard to see this not being in my Top 3 at the end of the year. Not perfect but close enough to engage on so many levels. An epic in terms of breadth and scope. Strangely original while still derivative of so many great movies.

A near-perfect film. Brilliant from start to finish. Loved it.

Non-Stop

Yep, as per the above, this is great fun. Plot holes that you could fly a plane through and many "yeah, right" moments but the non-stop action and build up of suspense had people squirming in their seats. The mis-casting of Lady Mary as Stacey the air hostess aside there is very little here to take away from the gradual build up of suspense which continues right to the very end. Sometimes Cinema is allowed to be fun and that's exactly what this is.

That Awkward Moment

Although the last 30 mins or so were ok, the struggle to get through the first hour or so really wasn't worth it. The 3 main male characters are so unlikable that none of them deserve the girls who are all way too good for them. Poor, at best.

This is an exceptional movie. It looks brilliant and it provides a linear story line which is a breath of fresh air compared to the twists and turns that so many movies feel they have to provide. The only slight downside to this is that it has to be seen on the big screen. It may look good enough on a big enough home cinema system but I don't know how it will translate to your average 32" TV with bog standard speakers. So go to the cinema, see it and be enthralled.

Pacific Rim

Ok, the plot may have a few holes, the story is a re-hash of Independence Day, there are no really big name etc. but for sheer visual entertainment this is superb. This is the single biggest on-screen spectacle that I have ever seen. The enormity and the heft of the protagonists cannot be understated and the fact that this comes across on-screen makes this a joy to behold. The human stories are there, Idris Elba is the outstanding performance, but this is a movie about giant robots fighting giant monsters and it delivers in spades.

The Internship

Everything about this film is middle of the road. It's amusing without being laugh out funny, there is no real peril but not enough heart to make you love the characters either, nothing to take offence at yet so obviously an ad for Google that you don't massively warm to it. Ultimately, it's very easy watching. It won't change your world view or leave you gasping for more, but it is quite passable.

I just can't get on the Ben Wheatley band wagon. I didn't particularly like Kill List and was disappointed with Sightseers. This is closer to Kill List in tone but is hugely more pretentious. Decent performances are here to be admired but I found little more. To me, and I may well be in the minority here, this is more Art than Cinema. What story there is is minimal and confused. It tries to be A Clockwork Orange but fails on so many levels. Each to their own, but this one wasn't for me.

Excellent. Not without flaws, but a joy to the eyes. Knightly is perfect as Anna, the only issue I had was Johnson as Vronsky. Not for everyone, but this will be in my Top 5 of 2012, without a doubt.

Quite enjoyed this, a real sleeper. Fun, easy watching. I felt it was missing a stronger cast but it passed the time for me quite pleasantly.

I really enjoyed this one. All very likable, fun and light. A Rom-com that is a bit better the norm.

Shame

One of those films that I really wanted to like but just didn't Painfully slow, unlikable characters, unpleasant story... I can live with any one of these issues but all three together spell disaster. Interesting how divided the audience was on this one. I heard everything from "Wow" to "Worst film ever!" I wouldn't quite say worst ever, but won't be in best of list for 2012.
