Production Has Begun On CLASH OF THE TITANS Sequel

Plot details and cast revealed.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have sent out a press release to announce that production has begun on the untitled ‘Clash of the Titans’ sequel. The press release reveals who is returning for the sequel along with plot details.

So, who’s playing who in the Jonathan Liebesman directed sequel? First up, we have the returning cast, Sam Worthington will be reprising his role as Greek demigod hero Perseus; Liam Neeson is back as Zeus, Ralph Fiennes as Hades, and Danny Huston returns as Poseidon (while he did appear in the first movie, Poseidon’s appearance was more blink and you’ll miss him).

Joining the cast for the sequel will be Edgar Ramirez as Ares the god of War; Toby Kebbell as Posiedon’s demigod son Argenor, Bill Nighy as fallen god Hephaestus, and rounding out the cast will be the lovely Rosamund Pike, who takes on the role of Andromeda, replacing Alexa Davalos for reasons currently unknown.

Two interesting points about the press release; surprisingly it doesn’t include Gemma Arterton. The actress played Perseus’ mysterious spiritual guide, Io, in the first movie and was previously rumoured to be returning for the sequel. The second point, the press release refers to the movie as ‘Clash of the Titans 2’ and not by the rumoured title ‘Wrath of the Titans.’

“A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus—the demigod son of Zeus—is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius.

Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld.

Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’ godly son, Ares, switch loyalty and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’ remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth.

Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda, Poseidon’s demigod son, Argenor, and fallen god Hephaestus, Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.”
