PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES Moves Forward With Lily James, Sam Riley, and Bella Heathcote

Long-in-development adaptation finally moves forward…

The folks over at Deadline are hearing that principal photography on the long-gesting film adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s satirical novel ‘Pride And Prejudice And Zombies’ is set to get underway next month with a cast that includes Lily James (‘Downton Abbey,’ ‘Cinderella’), Sam Riley (‘Maleficent,’ ‘Byzantium’), Bella Heathcote (‘Not Fade Away,’ ‘Dark Shadows’) and Jack Huston (‘Boardwalk Empire,’ ‘American Hustle’).

Based on the bestselling novel, ‘Pride And Prejudice And Zombies’ parodies Jane Austen’s original classic by adding “unmentionables,” or zombies, to such beloved characters as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy.

Burr Steers (‘Igby Goes Down,’ ‘Charlie St Cloud’) is behind the camera for the adaptation with the screenplay coming from David O. Russell (‘Silver Linings Playbook,’ ‘American Hustle’) and Steers.

Producers on the adaptation include Brian Oliver, Allison Shearmur, Sean McKittrick, Annette Savitch, Tyler Thompson, Marc Butan, and actress Natalie Portman, who was at one point was going to star.

‘Pride And Prejudice And Zombies’ was an instant success, selling more than 1.5 million copies, appearing on the New York Times Bestseller List for more than 41 weeks, and spawning not just prequel and sequel novels but an entire industry of horror parodies.
