Johnny Depp has officially begun talks to play Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates 5, despite previously being unsure of returning.
The latest film, ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean : On Stranger Tides’ just crossed the $1bn mark, one of only eight films ever to earn so much at the box-office. So perhaps a sequel was always inevitable?
Earlier this year, Depp had said “It’s not something where I would say, Let’s shoot it next month to get it out by Christmas 2012… We should hold off for a bit. They should be special, just like they are special to me.”
Reports in ‘The Wrap’ say that series regular Terry Rossio has already begun writing a script for Pirates 5 and that Disney are considering filming Pirates 5 and 6 back-to-back.
