PIRATES 5 Brings In New Screenwriter

New scribe hired for fifth film.

This time last year it was revealed that Terry Rossio (‘The Lone Ranger,’ ‘Pirates of the Caribbean,’ ‘Deja Vu’) had been tapped to pen the screenplay for the fifth installment of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ for Walt Disney Pictures, now Variety has word that the House of Mouse has brought in ‘Catch Me if You Can’ screenwriter Jeff Nathanson to work on a new script.

Plot details for the fifth film are unknown, and while Johnny Depp is not officially signed, the actor is expected to reprise his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow with Jerry Bruckheimer producing.

Since launching in 2003 the franchise has grossed more than $3.5 billion worldwide. The last outing of the swashbuckling fantasy adventure, 2011’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,’ itself taking in more than $1 billion worldwide.
