Phillip Noyce to Helm BLOODSPORT Remake

Another unwanted remake looks to be headed our way.

Screen Daily reports that ‘Salt’ director Phillip Noyce is set to direct a reinvention of the 1988 Jean Claude Van Damme actioner ‘Bloodsport.’ Penning the screenplay will be Robert Mark Kamen (‘Colombiana,’ ‘Taken’).

The “reinvention” will center on an American soldier who goes to Brazil to recover from the violence he has experienced in Afghanistan, he then gets involved in a martial arts contest.

Newt Arnold’s original film, inspired by true events from the life of Frank Dux, starred Van Damme as Dux, an American soldier who goes AWOL to compete in a clandestine Hong Kong martial arts tournament know as Kumite.
