Philip K. Dick

Another PKD novel headed for the big screen.

Variety reports that Lila 9th & Electric Shepherd Productions have optioned the rights to adapt Philip K. Dick’s 1966 sci-fi novel ‘Now Wait For Last Year.’

Set in the distant future the story follows Eric Sweetscent, an organ-transplant doctor who gets mixed up in the war between two alien civilizations, the “Starmen” (inhabitants of the planet Lilistar) and the Reegs.

The late author has had more than ten of his novels and short stories adapted for the big screen, including ‘Blade Runner,’ ‘Total Recall,’ ‘Screamers,’ ‘Minority Report,’ ‘Paycheck,’ ‘A Scanner Darkly,’ ‘Next,’ and most recently ‘The Adjustment Bureau.’

Screenwriter Ted Kupper has been set the task of adapting the novel, with Barry M. Osborne on board as producer alongside Cameon Lamb and Dick’s daughter Isa Dick Hackett. The hunt is now on to lock in a director.
