PERCY JACKSON Sequel in Development

Sequel begins to move forward.

A sequel to the Christopher Columbus-directed ‘Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief’ is now officially in development. 24 Frames reports that Logan Lerman will return as the titular demigod hero with ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ director Thor Freudenthal taking directing duties.

The sequel will be based on second book in Rick Riordan’s fantasy series, titled ‘The Sea of Monsters,’ which follows Percy and his group of friends as they head to the titular sea to find the mythical Golden Fleece, as well as to free a friend who has been captured there. It’s expected, though, that the sequel will draw from other Percy Jackson titles as well as “Sea of Monsters.”

Columbus will produce with a screenplay penned by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (‘Man on the Moon,’ ‘The People vs. Larry Flynt’).
