Spanish actress may play murdering heiress.
TheWrap has received word that Penelope Cruz is in talks for a role in ‘Gucci,’ Ridley Scott’s long-in-development film about the Italian family behind the clothing empire.
First announced in 2006 as a directing vehicle for Scott, the project now has the ‘Prometheus’ helmer’s daughter, Jordan Scott, in the director’s chair with the film telling the story of the late Maurizio Gucci, grandson of the Gucci founder, as he becomes heir to the family empire.
Gucci was gunned down in 1995 by a hired hit man. His ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani, was sentenced to 29 years in jail for plotting the murder.
Angelina Jolie was previously linked to the role of Reggiani.
