Owen Wilson to Lead THE COUP

Actor returning to the action genre.

Owen Wilson (‘Midnight in Paris,’ ‘Wedding Crashers’) has been tapped to lead the action thriller ‘The Coup,’ an intense action thriller that is described as being akin to ‘Taken.’

John Erick Dowdle (‘Devil,’ ‘Quarantine,’ ‘The Poughkeepsie Tapes’) is in the director’s chair, helming from a screenplay he co-wrote with his brother Drew Dowdle.

Wilson will play the father of an American family that moves to Southeast Asia and finds themselves embroiled in a violent coup where rebels mercilessly attack the city.

The film marks Wilson’s first time back in the action genre since John Moore’s 2001 actioner ‘Behind Enemy Lines.’
