Sometimes things just don’t make the main news section… it can’t be helped. Below you can find the some of the other bits of news from the world of entertaintment that have been hitting the internet in the past week.

During a panel at the Paley Fest earlier in the week, ‘Supernatural’ creator Eric Kripke announced that the proposed TV show adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s ‘Sandman’ had been shelved. Following the announcement, Geoff Johns, DC Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer, took to Twitter to debunk the claims:

“Correction to world: The Sandman is AWAKE!. Psyched to be working with @neilhimself [Gaiman] on developing one of the greatest series ever! Sandman in any form – comics to live action – doesn’t work without @neilhimself”

‘Tron: Legacy’ director Joseph Kosinski’s second movie has scored a new script and name.  Johnny Whitworth (‘Limitless,’ ‘Empire Records’) has confirmed he’s set to play the half-demon villian, Blackout, in the upcoming ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.’ In the comics, the character has mechanically enhanced vampire-like teeth and an extreme sensitivity to sunlight. The Rider’s famous stare also won’t work on him. The actor confirms the villain 5.01 into the video.

‘Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll’ director Mat Whitecross is to start filming his contemporary noir thriller ‘Ashes’ this month with his cast of Ray Winstone, Jim Sturgess, Luke Evans, Lesley Manville and Jodie Whittaker.  ‘Feaks and Greeks’ creator and ‘Bridesmaids’ director Paul Feig is developing a comedic vehicle for ‘Mad Men’s John Hamm.

“[Hamm] is such a comedy nerd. He will quote lines from Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy. You’re quoting something even I can’t quote! He’s always wanted to do comedy. One of the next things I’m developing a project for him to star in. I think he’s so funny. He’s like Cary Grant to me.”

Variety reports that Brendan Fraser has signed on to star in comedic heist film ‘Whole Lotta Sole.’ Set in Northern Ireland, the movie will be directed by Terry George (‘Reservation Road,’ ‘Hotel Rwanda’) with Jay Russell (‘Ladder 49,’ ‘The Water Horse’) producing. The script, written by George and Thomas Gallagher centers on a young man robbing a fish shop in order to pay off a gambling debt; the heist goes terribly – and humorously – awry when it turns into a hostage situation. Fraser will portray the shopkeeper, who’s on the run from his gangster father-in-law.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Marisa Tomei are in early talks to star in indie comedy ‘Married and Cheating.’ Raymond de Felitta (‘City Island’) writes and directs. Set in both New York and Paris, the movie follows three married couples as they navigate the ups and downs of their lives and deal with the ramifications of their decisions. The movie is still rounding up financing, so no deals have been made yet.

Variety reports that Val Kilmer is to play Wyatt Earp in the indie western ‘The First Ride of Wyatt Earp.’ The film follows an elderly Earp sitting down with a reporter to reflect on the ride that made him a legend, when the young marshal rounded up a posse to track down the outlaw who mistakenly murdered the woman he loved.
