At the Seville European Film Festival the European Film Academy and EFA Productions proudly announced the nominations for the 28th European Film Awards.
Ireland’s ‘The Lobster’, starring Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz is nominated for four awards, including European Film and European Actor for Farrell. Cannes darlings ‘Youth’ and ‘My Mother’ are also in the running for several gongs, with Roy Andersson’s existential flick ‘A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence’ in the running for three awards, and Alex Garland’s ‘Ex Machina’ – starring Domhnall Gleeson and Alicia Vikander – nominated in two categories. Asif Kapadia’s record breaking documentary ‘Amy’ – about the troubled life of Amy Winehouse – up for European Documentary.
The awards ceremony takes place on 12th December in Berlin, and Movies.ie will be on hand at the glittering ceremony to bring you the winners as they happen.
