It has been announced that Alan Ritchson (‘Blue Mountain State,’ ‘Smallville’) is set to join the cast of the upcoming live-action/CGI reboot of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,’ landing the role of Sai-wielding Raphael. He joins Megan Fox who was cast as April O’Neil back in February.
The Michael Bay-produced reboot will bring the titular turtles to life with the use of performance-capture, like the kind used in ‘The Hobbit,’ ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes,’ and ‘Avatar.’
‘Ninja Turtles’ is scheduled to open in cinemas May 2014 with Jonathan Liebesman in the director’s chair. Producers will now move on to locking in actor to play the three remaining turtles – Leonardo, Donatello and Michelangelo.
Ritchson will next be seen in ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,’ in which he plays District 1 tribute Gloss. That film opens in Irish cinemas November 22nd.
