Kidman being eyed to replace Sofia Vergara.
THR reports that Nicole Kidman is in talks to join the cast of Lee Daniels’ (‘Precious’) gestating sexual thriller ‘The Paperboy.’
An of adaptation of Pete Dexter’s of the same name, the thriller centers on a reporter and his brother who investigate the events surrounding a murder in order to exonerate a man on death row. Kidman would be playing a woman with a dark side who writes letters to men on death row. She brings the case to the attention of the reporter, developing a relationship with him.
Matthew McConaughey, Zac Efron, Tobey Maguire and Sofia Vergara were originally attached to star, but Maguire quietly exited the project last week. The actor’s departure shifted the production schedule which led to Vergara’s also departing with the new production date intruding on her ‘Modern Family’ shooting schedule. McConaughey and Efron remain attached.
