Liam Neeson will sink your Battleship...

Liam Neeson has join the cast of Universal's maritime blockbuster Battleship.

The actor will star opposite Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard, Brooklyn Decker and Rihanna in director Peter Berg's big-screen version of the combat game.

Battleship follows a naval fleet that encounters an extra-terrestrial force at sea. Neeson plays Admiral Shane, the father of Decker's character.

The $200 million blockbuster opens May 2012.

Six F***ing lines into the script you get your first product placement...

Oh for god sake... Seriously... 18 pages (which equates to 18 minutes screen time) into the script before you ever see anything resembling a Battleship...

Or am I just expecting a bit too much wanting to see Battleships in a film called Battleship....

I'm starting to look forward to this now. I do love a good mindless action film and this should satisfy this love of mine. Well it should with a 200 million dollar budget.
