Joaquin Phoenix returns to his acting roots?

Joaquin Phoenix may be returning to his acting roots.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the actor is attached to the film Big Shoes.

The plot follows a foot and shoe fetishist who also is an amazing footwear designer. The actor was also circling the period thriller The Raven and Sean Penn's Genius.

Big Shoes -- to be directed by Steven Shainberg, who tackled fetishism with 2002's Secretary is currently looking for financial backing.

Phoenix, who retired from acting back in 2008, will next be seen in the documentary I'm Still Here.

Very dubious about the "move into hip-hop". Deffo a hoax, in my opinion. May have been his greatest role though...

Loved the Secretary, so will keep an eye on developments on this. So it seems like Jaoquin Phoenix took method acting to the extreme :)

Some of the critics who have seen the documentary think it's not a hoax, saying some of it is too serious to be one big joke. Other critics are claiming it is a hoax and the film is a great comedy film.
