New Writers Hired for Y: THE LAST MAN Adaptation

Adaptation lands new writers.

Heat Vision reports that TV writers Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia are in final negotiations to tackle New Line Cinema’s long in development adaptation of Vertigo’s comic book ‘Y: The Last Man.’

Created by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, the critically acclaimed comic tells the gripping saga of Yorick Brown—the only human survivor of a planet-wide plague that instantly kills every mammal possessing a Y chromosome. Accompanied by a mysterious government agent, a brilliant young geneticist and his pet monkey, Ampersand, Yorick travels the world in search of his lost love and the answer to why he’s the last man on earth.

A previous incarnation was set up with ‘I Am Number Four’ director D.J. Caruso attached to direct from a screenplay by Carl Ellsworth (‘The Last House on the Left,’ ‘Disturbia’).

Federman and Scaia (‘Human Target,’ ‘Warehouse 13’ ‘Jericho’) are planning to “go back to the drawing board” for their screenplay.
