New version of Blade Runner opens in Ireland

The final cut of Ridley Scott’s classic will get an exclusive Irish release this weekend.

Following the sold-out screening at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival this Friday, Ridley Scott’s Sci-Fi classic BLADE RUNNER will open exclusively in a digital presentation at Movies@Dundrum from Saturday, February 23rd.

The recent directors cut is currently available on DVD but this new version of the movie was digitally scanned at 8,000 lines per frame, four times the resolution of most restorations and then meticulously retouched, giving an almost 3D look to the overall finish. The new version has been described as ‘different, darker, bleaker and more beautifully immersive.

Although the original movie, based on the Philip K. Dick novel was released 25 years ago, this is the original vision that Ridley Scott intended to be seen on screen.
