Dramatic comedy lands new scribe. Deadline reports that screenwriter Bill Dubuque has been hired by Warner Bros. to rewrite Nick Schenk’s screenplay ‘The Judge,’ a dramatic comedy that the studio is developing as a star vehicle for ‘Avengers Assemble’ star Robert Downey Jr. The films would see Downey playing a big-city lawyer who returns home after the death of his mother to learn that his estranged father, a judge, is suspected of murder. He sets out to discover the truth and along the way reconnects with the family he walked away from years before. David Dobkin (‘The Change-Up,’ ‘Wedding Crashers’) is attached to direct, and will also serve as producer alongside Downey Jr. and Susan Downey via their Team Downey banner.
