Helmer will tackle sci-fi genre for next feature..
Variety is reporting that Scott Waugh (‘Need for Speed,’ ‘Act of Valor’) has entered into final negotiations to direct the sci-fi actioner ‘Inversion.’
With Bragi Schut and David Arata (“Children of Men”) providing the script, the sci-fi follows “a young Chinese scientist and a street-smart American expat in a race against the clock across the globe to save Earth from an apocalyptic threat — a reversal of gravity causing civilizations to uproot and plummet into the sky.”
Producers on the project include Markus Barmettler, Michael Nozik (‘Syriana’), and Philip Lee (‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’). Waugh is expected to get the cameras rolling early April 2015.
