Nathan Fillion Boards PERCY JACKSON Sequel

Geek god to play Greek god.

THR reports that Nathan Fillion (‘Castle,’ ‘Firefly’) has landed the role of Greek god Hermes in ‘Percy Jackson and The Sea of Monsters.’ He joins Logan Lerman, who is reprising his role of the demigod Percy, as well as Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson who also are returning.

With Thor Freudenthal in the director’s chair and based on Rick Riordan’s second book in the fantasy series, the story follows Percy and his group of friends as they head to the titular sea to find the mythical Golden Fleece, as well as to free a friend who has been captured there.

Fillion’s character is the father of antagonist of the series, Luke (played by Jake Abel). Dylan Neal played the role of Hermes in ‘Lightning Thief.’

Also joining the cast Mary Birdsong (‘The Descendants’), ‘Community’ star Yvette Nicole Brown, Missi Pyle (‘The Artist’) and Douglas Smith (‘Big Love’). The actresses will be playing the three Fates, while Smith will take the role of Tyson, Percy’s half-brother.
