Naomie Harris to Play Miss Moneypenny in BOND 23

The Daily Mail is reporting that Naomie Harris (‘Pirates of the Caribbean,’ ‘28 Days Later’) is in final negotiations to take the role of Miss Moneypenny for the next Bond movie. The actress was first reported in be in talks for the Sam Mendes-directed sequel back in June, but there were no details revealed as to what character she would be playing.

The role is one of the series most iconic characters and has been notably absent from two outings. Miss Moneypenny was first made famous by Lois Maxwell. Caroline Bliss later played the role in ‘The Living Daylights’ and ‘Licence To Kill,’ with Pamela Salem taking over the role for the unofficial Bond movie ‘Never Say Never Again.’ The last actress to play Moneypenny was Samantha Bond, who portrayed the character in ‘GoldenEye,’ ‘Tomorrow Never Dies,’ ‘The World Is Not Enough’ and ‘Die Another Day.’

Harris joins Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes. Production is set to begin later this year.
