Nachmanoff Replacing Zwick on AMERICAN ASSASSIN

Zwick no longer attached to direct adaptation.

Last summer it was announced that ‘Love and Other Drugs’ and ‘Defiance’ helmer Edward Zwick was set to helm an adaptation of the spy thriller novel ‘American Assassin.’ Now Deadline has word that Jeffrey Nachmanoff has been tapped to direct.

The 11th book in a series by Vince Flynn that centers on CIA Agent Mitch Rapp, ‘American Assassin’ serves as a prequel to the series explaining how tragedy transformed Rapp from a college scholar and athlete into a ruthless hunter of terrorists for the CIA.

Nachmanoff previously directed the espionage thriller ‘Traitor’ starring Don Cheadle and Guy Pearce, and co-wrote ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ with Roland Emmerich. He has also directed episodes of the thrilling drama ‘Homeland.’
