MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS Remake In The Works

Hollywood adds yet another unnecessary remake to the ever-growing pile…

Variety is hearing that Ridley Scott is teaming up with Mark Gordon and Simon Kinberg to produce a remake of Sidney Lumet’s 1974 mystery drama ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ for 20th Century Fox.

Based on the famous 1934 novel by Agatha Christie, Lumet’s film starred Albert Finney as the genius Belgian detective Hercule Poirot as he investigates the murder of an American tycoon aboard the long-distance passenger train.

The original co-starred Lauren Bacall, Sean Connery, Sir John Gielgud, Jacqueline Bisset, Colin Blakely, Michael York, Anthony Perkins, Vanessa Redgrave, and Ingrid Bergman, who won an Oscar for best supporting actress for her portrayal of a Swedish missionary.

Fox is out to writers to adapt the material. Scott is not expected to direct.
