Valkyrie Delayed

When a young American travels to the city of Verona, home of the star-crossed lover Juliet Capulet of Romeo and Juliet fame, she joins a group of volunteers who respond to letters to Juliet seeking advice about love. When she answers one letter dated 1957, she inspires its author to travel to Italy in search of her long-lost love and sets off a chain of events that will bring a love into both their lives, unlike anything they ever imagined.

Bryan Singer’s fact-based action film ‘Valkyrie’ has been bounced from its intended October release to February 09!

This is the second move for the movie- it was originally scheduled for release this June. It is now scheduled outside of consideration for the upcoming award season.

The official statement suggests the new bump is to “take advantage of an opening in the schedule for the Presidents Day weekend”.

‘Valkyrie’, Singer’s first film since “Superman Returns,” is based on a real-life plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler, with Cruise portraying a German officer. Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Eddie Izzard, Christian Berkel, Thomas Kretschmann, Terence Stamp and Carice Van Houten also star.

TIDBIT:The initially crew was not allowed to film on Bendler Block due to “the dignity of this place”. Eventually, authorities would allow filming as long as the dignity of the place was not tarnished. Initial rumors that the project was banned from filming in Germany due to Tom Cruise’s religious belief turned out not to be true.
