He ruined it! Ok the cast look like their counterparts but they couldn't act (in most cases). This could have been huge (Twilight/Harry Potter style) but it was dreadful. I'd such high hopes being a fan of the original. I could have made a better/closer movie.
The story line is good but it is a little slow to start and is fairly misleafing with it's title's within the film as I sat there thinking how long is this gonna be if it still needs to get through all the other elements! It is aimed towards kids in its language and communication but it still has a fantasy storyline with a matrix feel which is always good.
As a fan of the original aimated series I was quite disappointed when I watched 'The Last Airbender' (in 2D) as it strayed far from the series which means the story has less of a meaning. The special effects are pretty good but not too interesting a watch.
It's an OK KIDS movie.. I guess!
I really should have known better than to expect I'd enjoy a Shyamalan film. The visuals were good, and the actors did the best with what they had.
I have been going over the numbers since reading some dubious movie sites that have been saying M. Night's film is a "success", yes I know, despite 98% of the critics in the US have said otherwise. Please feel free to research the validity since I took them off MovieMojo.com. The production budget for the film was 150 million (Marketing costs were another 130 million, but that’s another story) and so far it has made domestically $129,344,805 and since HALF goes to the theaters that show it, that amount is less than 65 million. Now if you add the the foreign gross (54 million) and we have about 188 million worldwide. However since half has to go to the theaters, the movie has only made less that 95 million so far after a month and a half. Still a failure in both counts. Listen we cannot let this director think his decisions were anything but ill advised and ridiculous. Give us some ideas to put the word out.
This director should never be allowed write and make another film after this benchmark in ego-maniacal film-making. M Night makes James Cameron look like a shy humble director.
Not as bad as I was lead to beleave. I was very impressed with the effects and it stuck close to the story line.
Not as terrible as it's made out to be. The visuals are brilliant, the acting from most of the cast is fine. The dialog is atrocious though. Stupid Fun.
I wish I had stuck to my guns with my 'I don't want to see' decision. Awful, just awful. No adventure, plot, fun, humour, or excitement.
