Still nursing a broken heart, oil refinery troubleshooter John Ottway (not to be confused with the Really Free one-hit-wonder, John Otway) boards a plane along with some fellow workers only to head into some of the scariest turbulence ever known to man or Hollywood. After crashlanding in the Alaskan wilderness, only eight survive - and seven of them are soon relying on Ottway to lead them out of trouble. And away from the giant wolves who smell lunch…

THE VERDICT: After Taken and Unknown comes another Liam Neeson action man adventure, something of an annual event now. And a welcome one at that, the Ballymena giant having long ago proved his acting prowess. Why not show off his broad shoulders and traffic-stopping stare too? With a second Taken outing currently in the works (due out in October), Neeson keeps himself fighting fit here, with this Touching The Void, But With Wolves!. And it does pretty much as you would expect, the wolves scaring the bejasus out of the supporting cast and Neeson scaring the bejaysus out of the wolves. Carnahan – working from a short story by Ian Mackenzie – has the smarts to give each of the supporting players a little moment in the spotlight. So, we’re never quite sure who’s next for the feeding frenzy.

Okay, I realize Hollywood is Hollywood and it is normal for them to bend reality a little for the sake of their art. And I can suspend belief for a few hours when necessary .

Liam Neeson delivers another bad ass performance. Great action along with a few sad moments. Would definitely recommend.

Cold, isolated and eerily depressing, The Grey opens up slowly as would be intended by its title, the film quickly escalates into the "Liam Neeson vs. The Wolves" plot people are expecting. While not a complex as it leads on to be at the start and victim to some dodgy CGI in places, The Grey is still a very well shot, minimalist-written survivalistic B Movie.

I enjoyed this. It's not a monster movie as some critics have suggested. It's a survival movie. It's quite bleak but that's the intention. I thought Neeson was solid and the other actors do their jobs well despite not exactly being even b-listers.

Very real, very dark, great performance by Liam Neeson. Well worth watching!

Liam Neeson's powerful presence is the central focus of the story; he is our compass as we experience the terror, the isolation, the conflict, the hope and the many obstacles to survival - both physical and mental

Liam Neeson kicks ass, wolf ass at that! Really well shot, really creepy with some jumpy scenes within. Enjoyable

Definitely more than you'd expect, not just pure action/adrenaline like "Taken ... This is more reflective and "real" with the cast of survivors. That said Neeson is still THE badass to end all badasses and riveting to watch. The cast, direction and scenery are all wonderful and action scene are tense and uncomfortable to watch. The ending may feel anticlimactic to most ... But still thoroughly worth a viewing.

Really good thriller that is extremely tense and had be jumping throughout. Although very much a thriller, also has a great plot with a lot of lesser known actors supporting a great turn by Liam Neeson.

Liam Neeson vs The Wolves is how Joe Carnahan's new film is being pitched... but that's only one element of this riveting survival thriller. Neeson and a motley crew of his co-workers fight for survival after their plane crashes in the Alaskan wilderness. As they're picked off one-by-one by a pack of predatory wolves, their situation becomes increasingly desperate. However, it's not all gung-ho action and inner conflict in the team. It's a deliberately paced and often reflective meditation on the survival instinct, with more than a few surprises in store. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the ending, which is an anti-climax. Some people will no doubt be disappointed by it, but if you think of everything that has come before then it makes perfect sense. Neeson as always is superb and it's good to see Carnahan back making a solid, well-thought-out film after the mediocre The A-Team. Well worth a look - it's unlike anything else in cinemas at the moment.

Went to see this tonight in Dundrum. Not what I was expecting either. Basically when this film starts off I think it gives off the impression that its basically going to be Liam Neeson sniping everyone...however that is not it. This film is more of an emotional thriller than an action film, and tries to show how long a person can go on for. I liked it I have to say, was definitley different, has one of the most realistic plane crash sequences I think i've ever seen in a film, the cast (especially Nesson) do a very good job of conveying the fear, hope and love of the characters. Solid 3 stars, recommended for everyone, but if your bringing kids it can get quite bloody at times and even when its not theres a good few frights in it.
