Milo Boyd, a down-on-his-luck bounty hunter, gets his dream job when he is assigned to track down his bail-jumping ex-wife, reporter Nicole Hurly. He thinks all that's ahead is an easy payday, but when Nicole gives him the slip so she can chase a lead on a murder cover-up, Milo realizes that nothing ever goes simply with him and Nicole. The exes continually one-up each other -- until they find themselves on the run for their lives. They thought their promise to love, honor and obey was tough -- staying alive is going to be a whole lot tougher.

Movies.ie Critic Review

Both Butler and Aniston play to their stereotypes here, as exemplified by the money shot of the burly Glaswegian bungling the feisty Californian into the trunk of a Mustang. That's pretty much the entire film right there.

The reason Butler's eponymous bounty hunter Milo Boyd bungles Aniston's Nicole Hurly into the trunk of his car is not simply because the woman happens to be his ex-wife. Nicole also just happens to be Milo's latest target, and no amount of left-over love or efforts of rekindling their romance is going to stop him from bringing her in. Well, that's the idea, anyway.

THE VERDICT: Think Midnight Run meets Mr. & Mrs. Smith. With maybe a dollop of It Happened One NightThe Odd Couple andPlanes, Trains & Autommobiles. Only nowhere near as funny, or smart, as any of those. Not even Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

A shameless rom-com which takes golden moments from any other film it can find and shoves them together in a big unfunny, cliched mess. The main stars are hit and miss. Aniston is as annoying as ever and with this seals her fate ie she will never again star in a non-rom-com movie. Butler though gets away with it. He's slightly funny, less annoying than Aniston and you respect him because you know he just did this for the money and he'll get better roles in the future. Midnight Run seems to be the main film fueling this, as the main plots are pretty much the same. But The Bounty Hunter doesn't end there. It steals and borrows till its got nothing original to offer and that my friends is why this film is so disastrously bad. I wouldn't even remotely recommend it unless you need to find evidence that the rom-com franchise has been destroyed, although 500 Days of Summer did try to help.

This was pretty funny ...I love Butler but I did find it lacking in some areas ...It only really works when the two of them are on screen together ..otherwise you kind of wish you were sitting at home!

Horrible dull mess of a film, which is dreadful from start to finish. To make matters worse it is far too long and does not even have the decency to be short. One to avoid.
