The 3D conversion isn't going to change your opinion on the movie or give you a whole new moviegoing experience, but it's not bad either.

Havent seen this movie since it was originally out, however I did enjoy it (all be it Jar Jar Binks is incredibly annoying). Truthfully though....dont see why this had to be put into 3D, it didnt enhance the movie experience in the slightest.

The Phantom Menace, in any number of dimensions, is an exercise in disappointment, a film filled with enough callbacks to the first trilogy to remind you about what you loved about them without adding much of note in all the new material.

Well first things first this film looks fantastic in 3D and the pod race in particular looks spectacuklar. But the same problems with the film are still there. It is far too dull in the middle hour and it lacks anything resembling a sense of humour. But a great finale and a wonderful score by John Williams prevent it from being the disaster that most people think it is. Oh and Jar Jar Binks is as annoying as you remember, if not more so over time.

OK, so we all know the movie and its numerous weaknesses – that’s a given (even though almost everyone forgets this is at its core a movie for kids!). So the 3D version, is it worth seeing? In my view yes for two reasons, first the joy on the faces of parents bringing their kids to a Star Wars movie. 2)For the kids themselves, the vast majority of which were not even born when this was released the first time getting the true sound and spectacle of a cinematic Star Wars experience. Don’t go to the theatre expecting lightsabers “popping” off the screen at you – that’s not the case here. Let’s make this clear there no 3D gimmicks exploding at the audience, the 3D is here purely to add depth to everything near and far and it is done REALLY well and actually makes some of the CGI sets look more realistic as a result, most notably the climactic lightsaber battle at the palace and between the Gungans and droid army. At the end of the day ... its “Star Wars” and George Lucas already knows he has my cash and many other 30 somethings cash in the bag.
