The greatest adventure of all time begins with "Star Trek," the incredible story of a young crew's maiden voyage onboard the most advanced starship ever created: the U.S.S. Enterprise. On a journey filled with action, comedy and cosmic peril, the new recruits must find a way to stop an evil being whose mission of vengeance threatens all of mankind. The fate of the galaxy rests in the hands of bitter rivals. One, James T. Kirk, is a delinquent, thrill-seeking Iowa farm boy. The other, Spock, was raised in a logic-based society that rejects all emotion. As fiery instinct clashes with calm reason, their unlikely but powerful partnership is the only thing capable of leading their crew through unimaginable danger, boldly going where no one has gone before!

apart from the complete focus on characters, breakneck pace, inspired casting and zippy sense of humour, the thing that i was most impressed with was that instead of making a prequel or "shudder" a reboot, abrams went and made a bona fide sequel to the earlier movies. it gave a nice glow to see him embrace the old with the likes of the very welcome leonard nimoy but also to watch him deconstruct the idea and mechanics of the prequel. in using the time travel device he did, abrams got to go back in time to use a younger cast but also managed to remove the lack of threat and predictability associated with prequels. also i get the feeling lately that people are bored stupid with the endness "hands up we failed, lets start again" approach adopted by most, in that regard, hats off to mr. abrams

This is everything Star Trek can and should be, and is easily the most fun film since The Dark Knight, which is an absolute rarity. Strong characters, good gags, grandiose if coherent-enough action... There's not a lot to dislike. Highly recommended.

A must see for newbies as well as die hard fans of the franchise, this movie captures the ethos of the original Star Trek series and brings it right up to date. A work that would make Gene Rodenberry proud they don't try to reinvent the wheel and yet manage to tweek it for a new generation. There are excellent performances from all the cast, who don't try to parody the original actors but yet manage to get into the spirit of the roles, and coupled with fabulous set pieces they make this a gripping watch from start to finish. this is a sci-fi adventure that has heart and soul and will definitely reinvigorate the brand for years to come.

Fantastic! Great story full of wonderful characters and gives a good insight into the beginnings of Star Trek. As a non Trekkie, I learnt something. Some great monster shots too, thank you JJ Abrams!

Really enjoyed the movie. Thought the concept of it all taking place in a parallel dimension very good.
