The greatest adventure of all time begins with "Star Trek," the incredible story of a young crew's maiden voyage onboard the most advanced starship ever created: the U.S.S. Enterprise. On a journey filled with action, comedy and cosmic peril, the new recruits must find a way to stop an evil being whose mission of vengeance threatens all of mankind. The fate of the galaxy rests in the hands of bitter rivals. One, James T. Kirk, is a delinquent, thrill-seeking Iowa farm boy. The other, Spock, was raised in a logic-based society that rejects all emotion. As fiery instinct clashes with calm reason, their unlikely but powerful partnership is the only thing capable of leading their crew through unimaginable danger, boldly going where no one has gone before!

Best movie of the year so far. Fantastic movie, really lived up to the tv series. Great performances by Zachary Quinto (love him since Heroes), Chris Pine, Karl Urban and the rest of the cast. They're characters where spot on. Pity Scotty wasn't in it much would have loved to have seem more of him. If and when there is a sequel I will be first in line!!! :D

Loved it. Very exciting, good action, good humour and great affects. All the ingredients for a good sci fi.

A fantastic action packed restart to the franchise but with plenty of respectful nods to the originals. Love how despite the explosions they do try to give a sense of quiet when moving from inside the ship to space scenes. The explosions (implosions) were nicely done too. Since with was an uneven numbered Star Trek film here's hoping the next one will be even better.

The best movie of the summer so far by a long way and certainly the most entertaining Trek film for over a decade. Surprisingly funny with some incredibly perfect casting, a great homage role for Nimoy and some of the best special effects ever created. It doesnt have much of a story and Eric Bana's central villain is a little weak but this is perfect summer entertainment and a great foundation on which to build future treks for this new crew. Highly recommended.

Overall, a really good film. The prefect amount of geek humour and action scenes.

This film gets 5 stars, simply because Quinto and Pine's performances are just out of this world! It hard to wonder how JJ Abrams has so much time, with Lost, Cloverfield and now Star Trek all within a short time. I couldn''t help feeling a little let down with Cloverfield, however his take on star trek had me hooked for all of the 127 mins. Zach Quinto is an amazingly talented actor and was perfectly cast as a young Spock, and a perfect compliment to Leonard Nimoy as an older spock. Chris pine is also great as James T Kirk and altough his character is a complete polar opposite to spock, they gel amazingly well together. Simon Pegg's role altough great is a little to short and one can't help feel that, with a man with such sheer talent sugh as pegg, his talent should have been utilised a lot more. Still, without spoiling, pegg still has one of the best quotes of the film! Trekkies and non-trekkies alike will absolutely LOVE this film and I really hope that Abrams adaptation of the franchise will be the first of many.
